As before, I’m starting off sharing my BTS poetry with a poem where the title changes everything. All of my non-BTS poetry is untitled. (Them being untitled is so dear to me that I’ve even thought about tattooing “untitled’ on my shoulder as both a homage to my poetry and RM’s ‘Still Life’). But I’m a big advocate for constantly trying new things, so I thought it would be fun to play around with titles for this poetry collection.
The first time I posted this poem on Tumblr was also the first time I shared my poetry online in more than a decade. I was so nervous about sharing it that I sat on posting for weeks. And then, when I finally did, not a single person saw it. 💀 Catastrophizing is kind of written in my DNA. I always think the worst-case scenario will happen. When just as easily, nothing could happen at all. That experience made me realize that my fears hold me back from sharing more of myself, frequently.
It was a pretty good lesson to learn but one I continuously have to remind myself of. I think fear and shyness are constant companions for me and they’re incredibly hard to shake off. Still, I’ll keep trying.
So here we are. As I continue writing in this poetry collection I attempt to make the titles a little more ambiguous, but this poem’s title gives away its inspiration pretty clearly.
Which member do you think inspired this poem?
If you’re interested in learning more about how I title the poems or about this collection, you can read my introductory post here. And if you’re curious about the name attached to my poetry – CEK- you can check out the explanation on my Tumblr.
